Chi waved back at her twin. It was nice to see her relax a little bit. It was probably tough on her being the one that everyone looked to. Freya and Felix seemed to not notice her greeting them. She bit her lip as she grabbed something to eat and drink. She cocked her head to the side as she noticed the captain slightly more relaxed, willing spending time with her aunt. The good cheer must be catching on. She wondered if some of the others would be showing up soon as well.
She took her plate as she sat at one of the tables. She picked at her food as it seemed people where paired off. Honestly, it did not bug her too much. It was a larger deal when she felt like a third wheel. She had a feeling that the tradition that her family had would end up being passed along to her too. It might not be as bad if they were not being a cooped up on the station all the time.
She gave a tiny shake of her head as she pushed those thoughts out of her head. This was a celebration and she would be enjoy it if it killed her. She tapped her fingers along the table as she debated about giving some of her artwork away. She had made a few different pieces to give away. She just didn't know what to give to who. If it was not today than maybe soon. She was not sure if she had enough to go around. She picked at her food as she watched the others.

Deep down in the armory, Alex remembered that there was a Christmas party today. However, there was the issue of cleaning a weapon that one of the Tenohs had used. Alex disliked cleaning their weapons. They tended to be so dirty. She wondered if their lackadaisical attitude towards maintenance extended to their custom starfighters.
It was doubtful. Hayate and William doted on their starfighters. A starfighter was a lot more complex than a firearm. At least with a weapon jam one might be able to clear it in combat, but one could not easily fix a malfunctioning engine in mid-flight. Alex thought it strange, but she shrugged it off.
She finished cleaning Hayate's pistol, then put the weapon away, closed the armory, and went to take a shower. The party would have to wait. It would be there.
-30 minutes later-
Dressed in a green dress with brown leather boots, Alex let her hair hang down. She was going to a party, not the armory. At least she hoped she was going to a party. Hopefully Freya and Sakuya had set aside their differences.
"Hey everyone!" Alex announced as she made her entrance.
The mission had been successful and the crew had returned safely. Sakuya had been grinning from ear to ear. Testing out her skills did that to her. She loved being alone and shooting. She loved being chosen for missions, and knowing that she was only getting better encouraged her to be the best that she could be. Her mother taught her that...
The mission had been a bit ago, and now they had a holiday party to attend. She had just finished up a solo training session, followed by a short prayer to her ancestors. Most of all, she spoke with her mother. The holidays, Yule especially, were the hardest on her. Without her parents, she felt alone. Her brother hated her, and even more so that she was trying to bond with him. She took the high road, which pissed him off even more.
She knelt down, bowing to her mother before backing away. Shaking her head, she pondered even going to the party. She was already late, so did it even matter? With a soft groan, she sighed and began rummaging through her closet. She had to at least make an appearance.
Finding a ruby red dress with a plunging neckline, she grabbed it off the hanger and slipped it on. Then, running a curler through her hair, she looked into the mirror and gave a fake smile.
Her heart warmed as she saw everyone at the party. Her red lips smiled, thankful that they were all together. They had been through so much and now they could finally just relax and let it go. She gave a chuckle to Jacob with his getup. Shaking her head, she walked over to beverage table and grabbed a small doze of booze. Liquid courage would definitely be needed! She then looked to Chi and and have a chuckle “Hey...better late than never.” She smiled.
Looking to Alex, she waved “Hey! You look amazing!”

Freya hadn’t missed Chi and her small wave. She noticed whilst fussing over Felix. She noted, with some surprise, that she had never really fussed over a guy. Felix however brought our certain qualities in her that she wouldn’t have probably developed had she never been out in this situation. She had examined these feelings before multiple times and found they were honest and genuine when it came to Felix. She wouldn’t assign a word yet. It wasn’t time.
“Felix I’m inviting Chi, Alex, and your sister over. It is a celebration after all. One meant to be spent with family.”
She waved back to Chi and motioned her to join them. She was her family as well as Alex and Sakuya. She would keep the peace between Felix and Sakuya. She wouldn’t allow this evening to be ruin.
“Chi pick a table and let’s sit there. Grab Alex and Sakuya. It’s a celebration and we’re family!”
She laughed and just because she could leaned in and kissed Felix and not in a way a friend would at all. She savored the touch of his lips and after the moments the kiss would have been chaste she met it linger until it moved to a lovers kiss. That should give Sakuya something to think about. She really wasn’t doing it to make Sakuya mad but because Felix caused such feelings in her and caused a hunger for his touch that she had never felt for another being. She pulled back and let her blue eyes take him in and smiled.
“You know that I don’t ever want to let you go, right?”

Felix spotted Sakuya. She wore a vibrant red dress that appeared to shimmer in the light. That was typical Sakuya. She always had to be the center of attention. She was addicted to the attention that came with being the firstborn of Queen Mars.
One thing amused him. She always saw herself as taking the high road in their conflicts. Of course she did. She rode a horse so high it was a wonder she did not get elevation sickness. Again, that was typical Sakuya.
But none of that mattered today. Today each Hino would mind their own business. Sakuya had her circle of friends. Felix had Freya.
"You don't want to let me go? Really?" Felix casually asked Freya.

(Tangs?) That was a reference he wasn't familiar with. Oh well, it wasn't every day a cute girl wanted to have a drink with him. (Come to think of it, NO girl's wanted to have drinks.) He definitely wasn't going to pass this up and made his way to where the refreshments were; giving a wave to Alex and Sakuya who both recently entered the Galley. (Might as well have what she's having.) Once his glass was filled, Ryuusei made his way to where Mizuki wanted them to talk. "So what's up?"
Post by Mizuki Tsukino on Jun 12, 2018 19:10:17 GMT -6
She walked slowly over to where Freya was seated with Felix. She took a seat and didn't look over her shoulder to see if Ryuusei had decided to join her. After all it was his choice to see if he wanted to talk. This also played well into her plans. This was a bit closer to the mistletoe and she just looked over when he seated himself and said what's up. She smiled, a very foreign look for her, and once she took small sip of her drink she nodded.
"It's not very often we get to relax like this. I remember when we first came here Jacob pushed us until we were sore and tired. Then after that he kept pushing. The only one who didn't seem to notice was Felix. I wasn't surprised by that though. He had been through a lot more than all of us. It just seems this was something that came out of nowhere and well it is nice. When was the last time you have been to celebration like this? We haven't since our parents."
She stopped herself right there, slammed the rest of her drink down, it had to be from Jupiter as they took whiskey making seriously, and then got up and poured herself another one and filled a pint glass with the sweet smell that could have only been an ale from Mercury. She smiled as she filled up three other pint glasses and in an amazing display of dexterity brought them all back.
"Alright lets have a drink and have fun."
She smiled at Freya and Felix and pushed a pint to each of them and then finally one to Ryuusei.
"What is a game that was played at these parties during the holiday when our families would get to together?"

He sat down and eyed both Freya and Felix then listened to Mizuki reminisce. "so'd he get soft in his old age, since I've barely broken a sweat." He said with a smirk before taking a swig. Then she asked when the last time he'd celebrated like this. "It was never quite like this, hell FAR from it. Just whenever I've wasted something that paid out enough to get a bottle or two."
Mizuki mentioned her parents, then cut herself off; something that caused him to raise an eyebrow, though that surprise was replaced by how quickly she'd downed her drink and went back...for THREE! Upon returning she passed out the other two, while his was still half full.

Chi smiled to both Sakuya and Alex as they came in with a wave. It was nice that most of the others had decided to join them. She wondered where the other three where? Ada most likely was still in med bay and Kaiou sisters were gods know where, most likely with the Tomoe siblings. She had a feeling that they might join them very soon. Or at least that is what she hoped for.
She laughed with the raven haired girl, "Well the more the merrier. It's no fun with just me and the new guy."
She gave a playful wink at the end that as her attention was pulled away from her friend. Freya had a demanding presence! She linked arms Sakuya as well as Alex. She giggled a little as she pulled them along to sit near the others. "When do we want to open up presents? Or we can just enjoy the atmosphere?" She paused for just a moment, "I guess that I am just glad that we are all here together like the good old days."
She pushed thoughts of the past out of her mind. There was no sense in thinking about things that no longer exists. She was happy that mandatory fun was called for the day. It was really the best way to relax. She smiled at each of her friends with a sigh. In this moment, life was nearly perfect.

That went better than he would have predicted. Sure he ass was puckered as usual but it seemed she had relaxed a millimeter and that was progress. When she gave the tart reply it was back and he didn’t let it phase him.
“You’re welcome Setsuna. As always it’s a pleasure. Enjoy your evening. I have an inventory to take care of and here’s a little something for you.”
He placed a small box on the table and smiled as he, clinked his glass with hers, threw back his drink and was more than happy to allow people to enjoy their evening without the reminder that they were always constantly under threat.
“Happy Yule Setsuna and enjoy yourself. I’d stay but the reminder of me being here isn’t something this party needs. I hope you like the wine.”
He rose smoothly and gave her a look she had never seen before. It looked like he was weary and also a longing for something. He shook his head and turned.
Sakuya laughed as Chi linked arms with her and Alex. Grabbing herself a glass of whiskey, she gently sipped while taking in the subtle sweetness. It was potent and delicious, and it made her smile. Her normally rough exterior began to melt as her blood warmed up as they approached Freya and Felix. With a gentle smile, she nodded to Freya “Happy Yule...” She said as she gulped down another bit of whiskey.
She’d seen the way Freya kissed her brother, and knew the woman was serious about her relations with him. She didn’t know what to think at this point, but Felix was his own person. Regardless what he though of his sister, Sakuya would keep her mind to herself. After their initial brawl, Sakuya began to like Freya; even feel that she could become friendly with future queen. Time would tell, however...
Slinging back another ounce, she giggled “Did I hear a drinking game about to commence? Let’s do it!!”

Setsuna took another sip which was nearly spit back out as he handed her a handed her a gift over to her. She set her glass down with a bit of a thunk. It was odd to have him give her something that was not a sarcastic comment or unneeded advice. She glanced up at him as a slight shocked expression could be seen. What was more, odd was the look on his face. It was different than the normal one. Perhaps he was not all rough edges yet she thought she was seeing things when it was gone.
Before she knew what she was thinking, her hand grabbed his as words tumbled out of her mouth, "You realize that it is rather customary to open gifts in front of the giver on the holiday. After all, you order mandatory fun. What kind of officer would you be if you skip out of an order?"
She dropped his arm as she grabbed a bottle of wine. She knew it would be a shame for such a good thing to be wasted in the back of her closet. She had a feeling that the tiny bit of alcohol had a bit to do with her sudden boldness. For a half hour, she would set aside the pettiness she had for him. It might help the children in the end to see them get along.
"I am less than ideal company but stay for a half hour or so. Inventory can wait as you just did a run. They think of you as a hard ass but want to celebrate with family which you are. You are reminder of something good."
She gave a half smile as she poured some of the wine. She kept the next bit to herself as she was a reminder of something bad. She had a feeling he needed to relax just as much as the others.
"Now, what say you? Put aside work for a half hour, than you can do what you need to do? I am curious as to your reaction to what you have in hand."
Downing yet another carbonated drink, Ada was holed up in her lab and getting a good monitor tan while staring at a 3D model of what she called Cataphract Armor. Well, technically it was not her lab, but rather one on loan to her from Jacob Marconi and Setsuna Meioh. Still, she spent so much time in the tech lab that it was her de facto home. She also had another home in the medical bay, but that was only whenever someone got hurt in a training exercise or during an away mission. The tech lab was her real home.
Shelves were lined with electronic components that were going to be used for one project or another. Either that or they were going to be used to keep the Dark Echoes drifting for another day. The aging space station took a lot of repairs to keep going. Its computer and electronic systems needed a lot of work as well. Ada was one of the ones who kept it all running.
Her mind turned back to the Cataphract Armor. She kept bumping into two major problems. The first was that it tended to resemble something that the Death Corps would wear. The second shortcoming was it was heavy. Only someone as strong as Alex or someone used to heavy armor like Felix could wear it for any length of time. That meant that field testing would be... difficult.
However, the Cataphract Armor offered a strong defense. It could shrug off most conventional small arms and grenade fragments. It also had an opaque bulletproof faceplate to protect the user's face from small arms and grenade fragments. It could also ignore energy pistols, but energy rifles and energy swords could damage the armor, as could anti-tank weapons.
While staring at the rotating armor, Ada remembered something. Today was the Dark Echoes Christmas party! Shutting down the computer and securing the lab behind her, Ada dashed off to the Christmas party.
-At the party-
Ada arrived in her typical attire of a white lab coat with a white long-sleeved dress shirt and black skirt with black shoes. She looked more like an Ancient Terran "office lady" than a princess. But Ada was no typical princess. She was the daughter of Ami Mizuno and the princess of Mercury. One day she would reclaim her birthright.
But right now she really wanted cake. Cake. Yeah. Cake was good. Cake was good and quick to eat.
Maybe Ada would get some alcohol too. Maybe... maybe something like tequila or sake. Perhaps vodka if she really wanted a buzz. Setsuna tended to frown on underage drinking, but the green-haired woman should have known that the old rules were thrown out the window the night their parents died.
"Hello everyone." Ada said to the partygoers. Most of the royal children were here. Except for the Tenohs, the Kaiohs, and the Tomoes, there was a representative of each family in attendance. The scions of the missing families would pop up soon enough.

Mizuki has paid attention when her mother spoke of how to get someone’s attention. She usually didn’t do such things but this was good.
“It’s important to celebrate a bit. You can’t forget everything. It does your soul good to celebrate something. Even if it is not something you like.”
That was mainly directed at Ryuusei. She felt herself relax a little more and she could most likely thank the alcohol for that.
“Who’d get soft in their old age Ryuusei?”
She hadn’t missed the comment but again she was happy to be here. Sakuya mentioned a drinking game. Well that was funny.
“Sakuya I think we are a bit past sneaking booze. I think it a wonderful idea though. We need more drinks to do this properly.”
When Ada entered she turned and waved to her. She motioned her over to sit with them. The girl was odd but in a good way. She liked her and one didn’t not like their doctor.
“Ada get over here! Grab a drink and join the merry making.”
This just might get good. That is if the Tomoe girl didn’t show up. She was creepy. Always talking to someone who wasn’t there. She was one hell of a fighter though. He use of edged weapons was scary to behold.
“Are we going to do it with rock, paper, scissor? Or are we going with something else?”
Freya nodded to Felix her blue eyes widening with the excitement of admitting it. She quickly mastered the excitement as everyone else entered and Chi brought over Sakuya at her insistence. She didn’t see a need to remain at odds with the woman. It was a small station and the chances of being on the same watch rotation was high. She watched the interactions Mizuki had with Ryuusei. That was interesting that she was choosing him. Well she hoped Ryuusei didn’t make her angry. The woman had a little bit of a temper. She wasn’t anything like her mother at all. Chi though was nearly a carbon copy of her mother down to her disposition.
“Alright ladies and gentlemen our esteemed command staff has decided to throw us a party for Yule. It is a happy time and yes presents Chi! First thing though where are the Tenoh’s!?! I demand they be in attendance! Wait! I know! Annika! Page the Tenoh’s!”
Annika appeared and complied. She waited a moment then disappeared. Now that was a cause to smile.
“Ada! Darling come and sit. You simply must have some drinks with us. Now for the game. I have an old Earth coin. So let’s play quarters. Just need a tumbler and some booze.”
