~Knight/Senshi~
Character Name: Felix Hino
Knight/Senshi Name: Guardian Ultor
Alignment: Neutral Good
Disposition: Loner, Resentful, but a lot of good buried deep down inside
<-- Civilian Information -->
Name: Felix Hino
Name meaning: Felix is Latin for "Fortunate."
Age: 15
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 140 lbs
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Brown
Birthday: April 14th
Zodiac: Aries
Blood type: A
Strengths:
Brave- Cowardice is not among Felix's faults. As a son of Mars, Felix is brave on the field of battle. He is among the first to fight, if not the very first one to enter the fight.
Strong Willed: Felix has a strong will. When he is determined to do something, he pushes through until he accomplishes it. This can be an asset and a liability.
Survivor- Felix is a survivor. Whether by lucky discoveries of crucial items, sheer willpower, or both, he finds a way to get out of all but the bleakest of situations.
Weaknesses:
Distrustful- Felix finds it hard to trust others. He was a trusting young man until a close friend betrayed him on the Martian moon of Phobos. After this betrayal, his jaundiced view of others leads him to rarely trust anyone; not even his own sister is exempt.
Loner- Felix tends to prefer his own company over the company of others. His mother and father were distant from him for reasons they never bothered to explain; they avoided the issue every time he asked about it. As a result, Felix does not like to socialize. He is not much of a team player, but he can set that aside in the face of an emergency. Once it is over, Felix reverts to being a loner.
Resentful- Felix is unhappy about his role in the world. He resents his sister for being the favorite child of Queen Mars. He resents having to be a guardian. He resents being forced to live on the run like a common criminal while the true villains walk freely. Most of all, he resents how he inherited his mother's sensitivity to the spiritual world and her psychic powers but all he can currently see are the spirits of the dead, primarily the late queens.
His mother tries to advise him from beyond the grave, but Felix pays little attention. Felix knows that he needs to rein in his resentment, but he cannot help but to feel that he is only being used by the late Queen Mars to protect her favored daughter.
Favorite Food: Steak, hamburger, fish... anything that is meat.
Least Favorite Food: Tofu. He loathes it even more than Spam.
Hobbies: Maintaining his weapons collection, collecting ancient books and holodiscs, visiting the shooting range, and modifying his weapons.
Favorite Color: Red
Phobia: Triskaidekaphobia, or fear of the number 13. He is not terrified as much as he is apprehensive of the number.
<-- Personality -->
The most distinctive aspect of Felix's personality is his loner nature. He only interacts with others when he needs to. This is inevitably a source of conflict with the other royal children and Jacob Marconi, but he hardly cares. He makes up for it whenever a battle commences. He contributes to the battle with explosive weaponry, hammering the enemy wherever his particular skills are needed.
Another aspect is his reluctance to trust anyone. Marconi, Setsuna Meioh, and his late mother's spirit have all chastised him endlessly for this trait, but their words fall on deaf ears. Felix feels that neither Queen Mars nor Setsuna have the right to lecture him on trust. Queen Mars never appeared to trust him with anything, only repeating the need for him to become a powerful guardian. Setsuna hardly ever talks to the royal children anymore. Felix feels used by them and trusts them only as far as he could throw them.
<-- Appearance -->
Felix has brown eyes and short brown hair. He has a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek, a reminder of a duel against someone he once considered a friend until a fateful incident on Phobos. He is fairly tall and slender, but that frail appearance conceals his inner strength.
He tends to wear the jumpsuit almost exclusively. His wardrobe is back on Mars. Besides, he feels the need to be ever ready for a chance to strike at Death Phantom's thugs.
<-- Knight/Senshi Stuff -->
Name: Guardian Ultor
Element: Fire
Gemstone: Ruby
Innate Abilities: Spiritual sensitivity, the ability to see the dead, a limited ability to communicate with the dead, and resistance to heat and fire damage.
Transformation:
Felix is engulfed in crimson flame. He fades completely from view as his armor appears sequentially. His cuirass appears first, followed by boots, gloves, pauldrons, and helmet. Once his armor is on, the flame disappears and shows Guardian Ultor.
Appearance:
Guardian Ultor's armor is largely based on an ancient Terran military EOD suit. However, his helmet is based on the ancient Roman galea and features a crimson horsehair crest. His armor is predominantly crimson with black accents. The symbol of Mars is emblazoned in black on both crimson pauldrons.
Powers:
Attacks:
Crimson Flare: Guardian Ultor creates a red sphere, which he then throws at enemies. It works like a flashbang, temporarily blinding opponents. This makes it a good weapon for attack or retreat.
Flamethrower: Guardian Ultor can project cones of red flame from one hand or both. These flames have a reach of up to 12 feet. This attack ensures that he can fight even without a weapon.
In exchange for cutting its range in half, Guardian Ultor can instead use blue flame, which burns hotter and can inflict damage on lightly armored vehicles and cut through medium armor, but the latter takes time. It can also burn through bulkheads and shutters, but again this takes time.
Napalm Burst: Guardian Ultor creates a baseball-sized crimson sphere which he throws at an enemy or a cluster of enemies. When it bursts, it spreads long-lasting flame which can cling to enemies and cause constant burn damage until put out. Those properties make it a good area denial weapon that can be used to prevent enemies from taking cover or to cover a friendly retreat. However, caution must be exercised to avoid burning allies.

<-- Background →
Felix was born the second child of Rei and Ryujo Hino. His birth was heralded by the flames in the Temple of Mars and the royal palace turning blue. The priesthood of Mars saw this as a portent that another powerful guardian was born into the royal family. In recognition of this omen, the son was named Felix, which meant "Fortunate" in an ancient Terran language. As later events would demonstrate, the name would prove to be both prophetic and ironic.
When he was four, Felix was tutored by specially selected priests in the usage of his spiritual powers. When he was eight years old, he had learned all they could teach. It was recommended that he learn more from his mother, but she refused, claiming that she had other projects. Idle talk around the palace got back to Felix that Queen Mars was busy training her daughter, a fact that planted the seeds of resentment in his heart.
Shortly after this discovery, Felix was placed into the agoge, a school for Martians bound for military service. His royal status did not save him from the harshest aspects of military training... on the contrary, he was pushed harder because of his lineage. Felix gradually learned the harsh lessons needed to excel and was ranked near the top of his class. He even made a friend named Janus. Unfortunately, the bonds of this friendship would prove to be easily broken.
When he turned thirteen, Felix and Janus were transported to the Martian moon of Phobos as part of the agoge graduation exercise. After being dropped off in a remote part of Phobos, their goal was to make their way back to a predetermined landing site. He and Janus found each other and joined forces to complete the exercise. The pair made their way across the barren landscape until they discovered an ancient facility of some sort with the initials "UAC" upon a study silver door. The door opened and Felix entered first, but Janus let the door shut and then destroyed the control panel, sealing Felix inside.
An undaunted Felix explored the facility, using a series of elevators to go deeper into it. Inside an old hangar, he found an old and battered but functional spacecraft complete with a legible instruction manual. After much trial and error, he engaged the autopilot and instructed it to fly to Mars and land outside the agoge. The entire staff and student body was startled as he strode into the school, angry beyond words and boasting glowing red eyes.
He challenged the startled Janus to a duel. Once the duel began, the angry Felix easily bested Janus, but not before the latter gave him a cross-shaped facial scar with two strokes of his sword. Defeated and afraid to die, Janus blurted out the story of his attempt to surpass Felix in class rank by leaving him to die. A furious Felix prepared to kill his fallen foe, but the instructor intervened, expelling Janus from the agoge forever. News later circulated that the disgraced Martian had fled Mars altogether for parts unknown.
Upon his graduation, Felix transferred to a civilian school. Mindful of the recent betrayal of a friend, Felix kept to himself. He was an above-average student who excelled in history and language arts and proved surprisingly proficient in foreign languages. His attempts to remain alone backfired... many students were enthralled by the air of mystery surrounding him. Regardless of what he said or how abrasive he acted people kept gravitating towards him, so the Martian gave up and let the fan club hang around, even starting to talk to a few of them.
His life looked to be on an upward trajectory until the night most of the queens were killed. During the attack, he was looking for a means to retaliate when two assailants tried to kill him. He promptly shot them with a dropped pistol he found at his feet. He liberated a quartet of frag grenades from them and was prepared to fight to the end until his mother's spirit warned him to flee while there was still time. Seeing two dozen attackers closing in, Felix threw the grenades and heeded his mother's advice.
Retreating from a hail of gunfire, Felix boarded a craft piloted by Chisana Chiba and met a rough-looking character named Jacob Marconi. Presented with the choice to flee or die, Felix had little trouble fleeing from a no-win situation. Marconi handed him an energy weapon and gave simple instructions.
"Burn everything down that isn't us."
Felix did just that. Armed with an energy rifle, Felix killed four more enemies with two shots to center mass apiece. This display of retaliation made all but the bravest enemies back off long enough for the ship to get away. Shots pinged harmlessly off the ship as it gathered speed and took off.
After the fighting was over, Felix met the other royal children and trained in the military arts under Marconi. While able to use most weapons with reasonable proficiency, Felix discovered an affinity for explosives. He was aware that fire and explosives was not the best of combinations, but he was determined to make the best of his situation.
Now Felix takes the fight to Death Phantom's lackeys whenever he can. He blasts them with explosives, vowing to never stop until all of them are dead. He fights for his people, but he does not feel beholden to any authority. He does not feel any familial obligation to a sister placed above him and is only Guardian Ultor because his people need him.
