Liam has been sleeping when he was rescued. He had resigned himself to his fate. He would be executed and his head displayed as a trophy for all to see. He did show a fair amount of surprise when he was rescued and didn’t resist when they took him, removed his restraints, and moved him out of the cell. He thought for certain they were going to caught when Ysolt came out and then Sailor Pluto appeared and fought her to a standstill. That have them time to get him to the shop where what could only be described as gun fight the likes a movie could have produced. He was then hustle into cover and the fighting continued for what seemed forever before he was then hustled onto a ship. His sister surprised him the most when she slid into the cover shooting what he could only call a grenade launcher. She seemed very sure of herself and he hadn’t seen this before today.
The equipment that was connected to him had been administered by Ada. She was a doctor in all but name. Her training from the Genarians, the same people who replaced Jacob’s arm, had given her all the medical training she would ever need. Liam has resisted the sedative but after a dark look from Mizuki and he relented. He now was hovering in a sleep from chemicals that were slowing wearing off and allowing him to wake. A plethora of thoughts floated across his tired mind but none of them fully formed. His life had been taken from him. He had been separated from his sister. The final blow had been him being captured and sent off for execution. He had given up hope of escape and surely didn’t expect rescue.
He woke up and looked around at his surroundings. He was calm and looked to see if there was a tray with water for him to drink. He found the pitcher and poured himself a glass. After he had a drink he looked for anyone in the room. He didn’t see them and got out of the bed and realized how cold the floor was.
“Hello?”

Wearing the generic jumpsuit with a white labcoat just to look semi-official, Ada was milling about in the medical bay and looking for anything that needed fixing in the place that was her third home. The first was the tiny postage stamp of space station that was her room and her second home was the tech lab. Captain Marconi and the others left her to her own devices, but Natsumi sometimes used it as well. Ada did not mind. Natsumi was pretty cool and her medical knowledge came in handy.
Ada found it funny how the more she tried to distance herself from her mother the more she ended up like the late Queen Mercury. They were both big fans of technology and they both ended up in the medical field. Like mother, like daughter.
A long string of events later and Ada was stuck on a badly maintained space station in the middle of Nowhere with the other royal children, her late mother's friend Setsuna Meioh, and some "Captain" she barely knew but to whom she owed her life. Then there was that Ryuusei guy who hung around with Lady Swears-A-Lot. Ada had no idea where he came from, but he was not a bad guy to know.
Ada thought about Mizuki's tirade against her Cataphract Armor and frowned. It was easier to destroy than it was to create.
What did Mizuki know about creating anything?
Then Ada thought about it and sighed.
She was not technically creating anything new when she had cobbled together the armor that Alex valiantly tried to field test during the last mission. She was digging up the past for inspiration for her Cataphract Armor. Even the word "Cataphract" had been borrowed. If she recalled, it was Greek for "completely armored" and was used to refer to the heavy cavalry of the Byzantine Empire, whose members were indeed "completely armored" down to the horse. Even the horse had armor, though it was not armored as heavily as the rider.
Why did she pick "Cataphract" for the name of the armor she had made?
Who knew?
Maybe she wanted a snappy name to disguise the fact that the design was half-baked.
Ada's train of thought was interrupted by a male voice calling out "Hello?"
"Hello there." Ada called out to the stranger while reaching for the pistol on her side. In her experience the Hippocratic Oath was a polite suggestion. The enemy certainly did not believe in not shooting medics, so she had no problem with doing harm to those who wanted to harm her.

Liam was not sure where he was but the voice sounded familiar. He wished he had some shoes on but it appeared that they had been taken, along with anything else that comprised the meager possessions he had been allowed. The last few days were a blur to be honest. Interrogated, given all sorts of drugs, and interrogated again. He was just glad he woke up unbound and unrestrained. He did recall Mizuki’s face but that had to be a pain induced delusion. The voice though he walked toward it slowly hoping it was friendly and not going to attack him. He stopped when he saw the owner of the voice. He was shocked and his relief very palpable as he seemed on the verge of happiness and joy.
“Ada....is it really you?”
His question a bit skeptical when asked as he had seen all his friends from Earth before when trying to resist the interrogation techniques.
“Ada....why are you just standing there looking at me like that?”

Ada was busy trying to determine if the voice belonged to a friend or foe while carefully hiding her pistol under her lab coat. She looked towards the source and saw a really tall blond guy who was not William Tenoh. Ada looked at him and tried to figure out who he was before realizing that there was one other person on the station who answered to the description of "tall guy with blond hair and blue eyes."
Liam Aino.
"Yeah Liam, it's me. Ada Mizuno." Ada said as she tried to find a way to discreetly hide the pistol in her hand so that Liam did not get the wrong impression. She kept the pistol nearby at all times because in every old movie enemies almost always tried to kill the medic before they attacked anyone else. Ada intended to not be a victim by keeping a weapon handy at all times. Just because she was a medic did not mean that she was forbidden from carrying a weapon.
"Why am I looking at you like this?" Ada repeated the question to buy herself time to come up with a good answer.
"Well, I really didn't expect you to show up so soon after... what happened." Ada admitted to Liam, hiding the real reason for her surprise. Ada had been so wrapped up in obsessing over the spectacular failure of her Cataphract Armor that she had forgotten he was even in here. Liam did not need to know that little fact.

Liam was relieved now that she was talking. He remembered Ada. She was nice to talk to at the events and gatherings they had to attended with their respective families. It was mainly discussions about machines and their favorite pieces of tech. He had enjoyed those long conversations and then he was pushed on Chi who did enjoy his company but they didn’t really have a lot in common.
“I didn’t expect anything other than a slow painful death. Thank you for getting me out of there. I’m feeling a little light headed.”
He hoped that his memories were messed up because he remembered seeing a few other faces. He thought he had glimpsed his sister and Mizuki. He didn’t know if that was right.
“I know I should be laying down right now but to walk around I restrained and not in a cell is a very strange feeling.”
He went to turn and ended up stumbling forward into Ada. He did however catch himself and his arms pinned Ada’s at her sides while he braced his body on the table behind her.
“I’m so sorry.”

"I'm glad that I could help get you out of trouble, Liam." Ada said simply. Even though her role was mostly to tag along and keep everyone on their feet during the mission, she still played a part in bringing Liam back to Dark Echoes. Now the Aino siblings were reunited and Dark Echoes was a slightly bigger but still dysfunctional family with Captain Marconi as the reluctant patriarch, Setsuna as the matriarch, and the royal children as... well, the royal children.
Ada scrambled to find a discreet place to stash her pistol while Liam talked to her about his practically non-existent chances of survival had he been left in enemy hands. He also talked about how he felt light-headed. He began walking towards her and the medic hurried to find a last-minute hiding place for her weapon before he got any closer.
Ada heard Liam acknowledge that he should not even be on his feet after what he had went through and that walking around was very strange to him. Ada nodded politely and tried her best to hide her pistol, but no good hiding place was coming to mind, at least not fast enough to make a difference. The bespectacled medic tried to conceal her panic as Liam staggered towards her and wrapped his arms around her, pinning her arms to her side. He braced himself on the table behind her and Ada was thankful that she had not tried to hide the pistol on it or under it. However, it was still in her hand.
Explaining why it was there was going to be awkward.
"I-it's no problem, Liam. Really." Ada insisted to Liam as she remained calm and tried to keep the pistol steady so that it did not fire.

Liam felt awkward about how he had pinned Ada and his face colored slightly at the closeness of Ada. He had always liked her and the conversations they had which had deepened his interest in Ada. He however was never able to pursue that beings they had been attacked and him separated from them and his imprisonment and escapes. He was here now and would have to see how he fit in to what they did here.
“You and everyone, I’m just glad to see a friendly face when I came to. I appreciate the effort. Now if you don’t mind, can you help me back to the bed. I think I’ll fall if you don’t help me.”
He wasn’t kidding either. He pushed off to allow Ada the freedom of movement again and took a very small and careful step back from her. He could keep his feet but walking may be his downfall, literally.

Despite being hugged by the closest thing to a giant on the station Ada was playing it cool. He had not found the pistol and it had not accidentally fired yet. All she had to do was find somewhere to hide it without Liam knowing and everything would be peachy.
However, Liam just asked for help in getting back to his bed and Ada would need to act soon. He was literally about to fall over and really did need help to get back to his bed. Ada kept a straight face, but on the inside she was internally screaming. The chances of her finding a good hiding place for the pistol were shrinking with each passing moment.
Now she had been called upon to go help the giant Aino back to his bed. Thankfully he had let her go so she had use of her arms again, but she still had the issue of where to safely stash her weapon hanging over her head. She was running out of time to decide how to safely store it.
"Sure, Liam. I'll be right there." Ada said. She quickly and quietly flipped the safety on and shoved it into her left side pocket, pushing it as deeply as it could go. There was no more time to be subtle. She would just have to hope that he did not see it.
"Here I am!" Ada said, hurrying to Liam's left and helping him from that side in an effort to keep the pistol in her side pocket hidden just a little bit longer.

Liam was happy that Ada was helping him. He was extremely lucky it was her. She seemed a bit different but it was Ada. He had during his relationship with Chi when he noticed Ada and started to hang out with her. He would, when on Mercury, try to find her to hang out. It was nice to talk to her about machinery and electronics.
“Thank you Ada. I really appreciate you helping me back to my bed. I just didn’t believe I had been freed. I just didn’t want to believe it until I saw you.”
They walked toward his bed and he decided to ask her.
“Can I get something to eat?”

Ada calmly helped Liam towards the bed and made no sudden moves while doing so. He did not know about the pistol and if she played it cool he would not know about it. Ada continued to help him until they were close to the bed, where he asked her for something to eat.
Ada was momentarily surprised by the request, but it was not a request that she was unable to handle.
"Sure, Liam. What would you like?" Ada asked Liam. Being able to leave the room would give her a chance to hide the pistol and he would be none the wiser. In theory.
Despite his appearance, Liam was not "dumb muscle". He was every bit as intelligent as Ada and was practically her equal when it came to technological aptitude. He helped keep the station running by assisting with repairs on the station's aging electrical systems and electronics. It was hard to believe that he was Freya's brother, but here he was, an Aino who could stand toe-to-toe with a Mizuno when it came to knowledge of technology.
