After finishing up in the Armory and the mundane task of cleaning and servicing the weapons, which was a short task considering the size of the crew they had, she grabbed her tactical gear and went off to the holodeck and had Annika summon Ryuusei. She waited outside while she loaded up the program she intended to use. It wasn't in the standard set and one she had been working on for several months for private use. She turned as she saw Alex, who happened to be several steps behind approach. She smiled at the woman. She would have believed they were friends considering they were paired together to clean weapons in the Armory more than she cared to count. Once they were both there she decided to give her the run down on the program.
"Alex you read for this one. I created it in my spare time. It is a combination of warfare across the ages with attackers and weapons changing. I have altered it so the holograms will take your orders and or largely ignore you depending on what you wish to do. That is mainly how it works. Our weapons will be generated by the program and be scenario dependent. I want you to antagonize us as much as possible. Don't take it easy on us and well let's have some fun. Beside which I also inputed the specifications for the modified LMG we talked about so you can give it a try. It is to weight and will perform as an LMG would in an situation. Just tell me if it needs any tweaks and we can go from there. Alright we are waiting on Ryuusei to join us. The captain seems to think that he needs an evalutaion that isn't done by him. That fell to me. He is off doing who knows what."
She tightened down her tac gear a bit and looked at her watch. They were early and she didn't like waiting but she had called him early. Annika had told her about Alex about some sort of celebration being put on in the galley. She would go and see what it was about when she finished up and had wrote her report about Ryuusei. She didn't mind writing reports and Ryuusei would make a good addition to the team. She knew that having more on the team would be great and incorporating him into the training schedule wouldn't be hard. He seemed to be a slacker but his actions and how he carried himself lied about that. She was most likely going to be pleasantly surprised by this training session.

(This doesn't do much for mobility.) After putting on the Tac Gear, Ryuusei did a few punches and kicks to loosen up. The added weight made his movements a bit more sluggish than he was used to. He wrapped his reddened, Mithril chain around his waist before heading to the holodeck area.
While still early, Ryuusei didn't want to waste time, whether it was a black mark on the evaluation or nit; it was just unprofessional. He saw that both Alex and Mizuki were already present. "I'm here, so what have you got for me?"

Alex looked at the new guy. The tac gear looked like it weighed him down. He was definitely not used to it. He would get used to it in time. All the royal children did.
"Mizuki will have to give you the full story, Ryuusei. Me, I'm just here for the show." Alex said to Ryuusei. Hopefully he would not figure out her purpose before she got into the action. If he did, then he would prove himself to be detective material. Alex had a feeling that everyone on board the Dark Echoes had underestimated the green-haired guy... she too had sold him short. Chances were it was deliberate on his part so that his true skills would remain hidden until they were needed.

Mizuki looked at both Alex and Ryuusei and nodded. She was pleased that Alex had decided come and join them. It would make for a more real experience in this training because she was bringing that chaos element that all combat had and it would make for some good training. She was turned to the panel and finished activating the programming and tagged Alex as a leader and noncombatant for the exercise. She spoke to Ryuusei.
"You look uncomfortable in the gear. I know I was the first time I had to wear but you will get used to it. The commander says it will save your life. He had specifically selected the gear because it repelled energy rounds and bullets. It has saved my life a few times."
She let him take that in and decided to explain the training. It was a simple training program that was supposed to test all the skills that one needed in the field. It covered a plethora of environments and measured the teamwork and reactions of all parties involved. Annika then compiled all the data and submitted with a report attached from the evaluator.
"This training program was designed to evaluate the teamwork and reactions of the people involved in it. It does use nonlethal rounds but they will hurt and cause impacts on your body armor and well leave bruises. It moves through a variety of settings from woodland or jungle to urban settings. It does include civilians to see how much you are paying attention. Ryuusei we will prompted by Annika as who is the lead and who is following. As soon as you both are ready we will begin."
She smiled to Alex who would be given the first entry.
"Oh one other thing between settings we will be given access to an armory and a quick briefing of the mission. When we being we will be given a briefing and armory access. Alex you may enter first as you are the one who is helping evaluate and not participate."

"OK, I'll go in first." Alex said to Mizuki before strolling in. Mizuki was telling the truth... up to a point. It was true that Alex was going to help evaluate the new guy. What was not true was Mizuki's statement that Alex would not be participating.
She would be participating. She was the rogue element. She would be wielding a lead hose to see if the new guy had what it took to handle complications during a mission. The test reminded her of a quote from an Ancient Terran boxer named Joe Louis. Maybe Mizuki had thought about it too.
"Everybody has a plan until they're punched in the face."

{Then I'll be sure to put on a good one!" With a wave replied to Alex as she entered the simulator. Then he turned to Mizuki as she keyed everything in; raising an eyebrow at her commenting on his discomfort with the Tac Gear. Not a hint of edge to her voice, it was the most casual he'd seen her. (Must be at home in the thick of it, even if it's a mock battle.)
"It's a bit bulky for my liking," Then gave a shrug. "...then again I spent the better part of a decade, fighting in rain-drenched clothes. So I'm probably not the best judge of combat attire." but since the simulation was using ammunition that could cause bodily harm, some armoring was warranted.
"So which field type's your favorite?"

Alex listened to Ryuusei with amusement as she entered the simulation area. She was impressed by his guts. She could probably punch him so hard that he would make a hole in the wall on impact, but he still found time to make a joke. Alex could respect guts like that.
Alex quickly looked around for her LMG and ammo. She found both behind a simulated car. The car was an Ancient Terran four-wheeled design from back when her mother was Sailor Jupiter and Earth was not yet under the rule of Neo-Queen Serenity. Alex paused for a moment. Why was she suddenly... sad?
Alex shrugged it off and climbed on the roof of a deli. It was an obvious firing point, but Alex would start Ryuusei off easy. Later in the simulation she would try less obvious vantage points. She loaded the weapon and made sure the belt was only stun rounds. It was a belt full of stun rounds, 100 shots of non-lethal pain.
Alex was ready whenever they were.

Mizuki finished designating Alex as a command element to the simulation and turned and raised an eyebrow at him. She had seen him work out in the gym and she had been impressed with his physique. It was nice to look at and well the image of rain soaked clothing conjured an entirely different set of images. She pushed them away to answer him.
"It looks new and like you haven't broken it in. It will take time for it to become supple. Just wear it around for at least an hour a day and perform regular work in it and it will happen."
-*-
As Alex got onto the roof she would find that she was approach by soldiers of the time period. They looked at her and as if waiting for something until one spoke.
"Sargent whats your orders? We have to hold this street and well understand that the two we are looking for will be through soon enough. What's the plan?"
-*-
Mizuki was pleasantly surprised by the question but looked at Ryuusei as if giving thought to the question. It was simple enough but one that she had never considered. She would have to say an urban setting was her favorite as it made for the best places to hide and attack from, plus you could always ambush from those settings.
"I'd have to say that urban is my most preferred setting. It gives you ample points to ingress and egress from, along with ambush points as well. If you can fight in an urban setting then you can fight pretty much everywhere. It makes for a good training tool."
She motioned to the door as she hit the confirm command and it opened to show an armory.
"Well what are you comfortable using?"
She asked as she let him enter and take a look around. She saw the weapons she wanted and waited to see what he would pick so she could pick complimentary weapons.

Alexandra looked at the four holographic soldiers. They were dressed in uniforms and armed with equipment appropriate for the late 20th Century. She did not anticipate this twist. It was a sucker punch to the brunette.
She already had enough lives depending on her without two more being added. Even if they were only holograms, she did not like risking their "lives." That was one of the brunette's greatest weaknesses. She was afraid to risk the lives of others; she would rather take every risk herself than order others into harm's way on her behalf. It was possible Mizuki added the soldiers an evaluation of her own.
Alex looked at them again. They were waiting on her. Alex frowned. She had to think fast. She spotted a small three-story office building to the west of her current position. The roof there should be sufficient cover and give them a decent line of sight on the street.
"OK, here's the plan. You two, get on the roof of that office building. Once you get into position, stay low and wait for my signal!" Alex ordered a pair. They gave a thumbs-up and rushed to their positions. She needed to cover the ground floor. It was not the best choice because it was enclosed. One good grenade throw and they were both gone. However, since she did not pack claymores, it needed to be done.
"You two, go to the ground floor and take cover behind the counter. Stay low and wait for my signal. If things get too hot, get out of there!" She ordered. They gave a thumbs-up and rushed to their positions. They were ready. Alex hoped that she would be ready too.

"Touche." As aside from his old shirt like living in a red apron...he'd probably worn it for a good five years; the red fading quite a bit before ultimately being dissolved by the hot liquid spew from a dragon...
Suddenly the area around them morphed from a small room....to a vast city! (Damn...just, damn!) He made sure to hide any visible reaction, which probably would've gone unnoticed as Mizuki was stuck in her own thoughts, as this really WAS the first time Ryuusei'd been on a holodeck. True most of the stations he'd visited had one; but they really weren't designed for combat training...instead they were used for other thing. And one couldn't enter without cummin; across puddles of it...
After some time she answered his question, and gave her reasoning. Ryuusei's response was a smirk and thumbs up. "You're my kind of lady! Hell, there ain't much more I can add TOO that, except if you know the area...you can make a small force look like an army." Then approached the 'Cabinet of Curiosities'.
"What I'm comfortable with eh? Well..." And emerged with a combat knife, a belt with grenades...and a flare gun! "You're up!"

Mizuki raised an eyebrow quizzically at the flare gun but didn't say a word. She had seen Freya take household cleaners on a mission and blow a wall out to make an exit. She was more a marksman and chose her favored energy weapon. It had a power cell that gave a hundred rounds, plus with underbarrel attachment it gave you the option to fire an energy grenade. Then she grabbed her sidearm Lunae Mortis, it was heavily modified and she decided to leave the other barrel on the shelf. She used it as the energy weapon that it was supposed to be but could be easily be converted to a more conventional weapon. She looked over at Ryuusei.
"You get to be on point. After all this is your evaluation. I am here to provide fire support."
She wanted to ask about the flare gun but decided she wanted to see it in action. She looked around as the armory dissolved and coalesced into a city street. She had run this one several times. It was one of her favorites and she always asked for random enemies but this time she needed to see how he fought and reacted under pressure. Now as the time to see it. She handed him a map.
"Our objective is marked and you get to decided how we get to it. Go time."

(Point, huh?) The thought still felt a bit weird, as it's been almost two years since having anyone fallow him... Regardless, Ryuusei went over the map; it seemed they were a ways off from their objective.
"We should definitely avoid the streets... Rooftops might not be the best approach either. Soo..." He moved towards a manhole cover. (If it were just me, I'd go with either Options A or B. but since it's not.) Ryuusei uncovered the hole and looked back towards Mizuki. "How well do you see in the dark?"

Mizuki raised an eyebrow at his choice but was impressed that he was thinking about way to avoid the enemy while keeping them alive. That was good and she made a note on her tacpad to alter any future simulations to forego any type of sewage systems. It wasn't because she found them abhorrent. It was something she wouldn't have used. She enjoyed ensuring her enemies weren't around to bother her again. It was a joy that she didn't often speak of but it was something.
"I agree and that is an interesting choice and since you are in charge let's go."
She followed without any other words as they entered the sewer and she pulled the manhole cover closed behind them. It was going to be fun after all. He was showing an unorthodox thought process which would give Alex some trouble in locating and neutralizing them. All the better.

"It's dark down here so stay close." A bit of a redundant statement as her sealing of the manhole, cut off much of the light above, save for bits that poked through the grating. Once Mizuki was down with him. Ryuusei took a moment to recount the map they were shown when the exercise began. Once he had his barrings, Ryuusei started in the down the tunnel in the general direction of their objective. He kept a good pace, yet didn't actually make a sound when his feet touched the ground...a skill he'd honed both as a former pickpocket running on uneven streets.
He made sure not to pull too far ahead and get them separated, so he stopped ever now and then...it also gave him the chance to listen for other movements, in case the system took this route into account and had men patrolling.

Alex was surprised. Mizuki and Ryuusei had not made an attack yet. Normally the pair would have already kicked in the front door and come in shooting, but that was not the case. They were being subtle. That pair being subtle was worse than them acting recklessly.
But where could they be?
"There's a sewer system. They might be trying to go through there." A soldier idly remarked. Alex's eyes widened. That would be exactly the kind of thing they would try!
"Where's the nearest sewer grate?" Alex asked them.
