Mizuki would have pulled other gear had she know that this was the route they were going to take. She didn't so she stayed close and wondered what the hell this guy had done to survive. He seemed to maintain his lazy and slacker attitude despite what happened in his life. That was something she could say she could have done. She stopped that train of thought and locked herself onto the mission at hand. It was to survive three progressively harder scenarios under his leadership. It was to evaluate his tactical reasoning and choices. It wasn't a win or situation it was a test to see if he would fair well in the field. It was going well so far because he was thinking outside of the box and led them to a route that many wouldn't have thought of taking themselves.
"Don't worry I will be close enough. I get the need for caution in uneven terrain. You weren't here for our jungle training. Commander Marconi was ruthless. It was three weeks on the holodeck with him assaulting our camp at all hours. Shooting in tear gas, throwing in flash bangs, using stun rounds, and all other manner or irritants to keep us on edge and on our toes. I broke my leg and splint it during watch. Ada healed it the next day while she cooked up some tablets that would allow us to resist the effects of tear gas without all the masks and gear. I have to say the team I'm on is quite skilled and hopefully after today we will be adding your skill set to that mix."
She smiled mainly to herself. Ryuusei wasn't a bad guy he just seemed more of the loose cannon or loner type. She supposed it was how he survived all his years. He was going to join a team and would be depended upon. She let her finger tips brush his shoulder so she could keep an arms length off him in case they were discovered and that meant she would have some time to shoot and find a side tunnel if the program generated a side tunnel.
